In Remembrance
It is with great sadness that the Eastern Montgomery County Emergency Management Group announces the unexpected passing of founding member and informal chairman Ed Momorella. Ed passed away April 3, 2012 while working on plans for the next EDITS conference. Ed's work with Upper Moreland, Abington Township, Southeastern Task Force, and the US Government set the standard for excellence. Ed has been a leadership influence in the fire and emergency services for many years and leaves a legacy of a community, county and region much safer for his efforts. He will be greatly missed as a professional and as a friend. We ask that you remember his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Our group consists of Emergency Management officials from the listed communities in Eastern Montgomery County. We meet informally every two months to discuss common emergency management issues. While our communities represent only 5% of the land area and 20% of the municipalities in Montgomery County, over 300,000 people, or 40% of the county’s population reside within our jurisdictions. Since most of our communities are contiguous, our commitment is to work together as partners in all Emergency Management issues and incidents.
Recognized as an outstanding example of a successful partnership, the group received the 2002 Governor’s Award For Excellence in Local Government. The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) in their December 2002 newsletter also recognized the group’s initiatives and activities.
Most meetings are held at the Abington Township Public Safety Training Center, 2200 Florey Lane, Roslyn, PA 19001. The Center is located at the dead end of Florey Lane, off Easton Road, just south of Edge Hill Road.
